Mozilla offers a new vision of the future of Web applications.
Since both the look and feel and the functionality of Mozilla are 100% customizable, developers can create Web-enabled applications that run on top of Mozilla's core engine.
We have developed a remote script editor using standard Web technologies (such as Javascript and CSS), plus Mozilla's own XML-based User-Interface Language (XUL). Mozilla's use of these technologies enables the creation of a new class of Web applications.
In this context, Mozilla functions as an "application virtual machine" that enables a Web application to be "write once/run anywhere." This script editor runs on Windows, Macintosh, and Unix platforms as well as OS/2, Amiga, BeOS, and Mac OS X -- any platform that has a Mozilla port.
The script editor is a proof-of-concept for this new breed of application. Contact us if you are interested in more information about this or other Web applications, or subscribe to the script-editor mailing list to talk about this project with the community.
